PETYA

Peyta is a family of ransomware encryption that was discovered in 2016. The malware targets Microsoft Windows-based systems, infecting the master boot record to run a payload that encrypts a hard disk file system table and prevents Windows from starting. It then requires the user to make a Bitcoin payment in order to regain access to the system.
